LEARN MORE and Help MAINTAIN our Harlem Community's VITAL Musical History!
NEW AMSTERDAM MUSICAL ASSOC (NAMA) was founded in 1904 and Incorporated 1n 1905 by Professional Black Musicians of the Diaspora, as the first union for Professional Black Musicians in the United States of America. Among NAMA's membership roster, were great musicians such as James Reese Europe, Eubie Blake, Fletcher Henderson, Larry Lucie, Hallie Anderson and Henry Minton, to name a few!

Pioneering NAMA Founders, purchased its Brownstone Building at 107 West 130th Street in Harlem, New York on June 26, 1922, and this has been the NAMA headquarters for the past 100 years to date!

NAMA has been and continues to serve as a vital Musical and Cultural hub for artists ranging from youth to seniors of all levels, to hone their skills. fellowship, and for audiences to enjoy the healing and upliftment of great LIVE Music!

Over four major Black-owned Live Music venues have closed down in Harlem, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors, NAMA still stands in continuing to serve as a major resource in the Harlem Community as it still offers a variety of ongoing low to no-cost programs and events that keep our heritage of Live Music Alive in Harlem. The NAMA facility also offers rehearsal space for musicians, practice rooms, workshops, plus indoor and outdoor activities, as well as a “Little Theater” where performances and special activities are held, which makes our community so special.

When you support NAMA, you ensure that our community-nurturing work will be here in the Harlem Community into the next CENTURY & BEYOND!

Donations to the New Amsterdam Musical Association (NAMA) Non-profit 501c3 Organization, will help ensure NAMA's legacy of being a cultural and musical treasure for Harlem artists and community members for many years and generations to come.

Thanks for your ongoing contributions and support!
