Donate to Idaho State Police's 10 Counties of Christmas
Donation protected
Since 2017, Idaho State Police troopers extend their service beyond patrol duties by working to provide holiday meals to families.
The Idaho State Police call it the “10 Counties of Christmas.” This initiative brings meals to families in Eastern Idaho this holiday season. Beginning in November, troopers will visit Broulim’s locations throughout the area to collect donations for Broulim’s to assist in this effort.
The event has grown over time. The first year, we raised enough funds to provide 53 meals to families in need. Last year in 2023, we were able to donate 475 meals.
As our program has grown, we have solicited the help of local high schools and their student-led organizations to be the identifiers of those in need and the distributors of the meals. Being able to distribute the meals is a monumental task, and without the schools' support, we wouldn't be able to continue to grow each year.
The school keeps all personal information about the families internally, and all ISP asks for is a total number of meals each school needs. Once a total number of meals is determined, the delivery schedule is also confirmed for each school. The schools can use whatever criteria they desire to determine which family could use a little extra Christmas cheer.
The week before Christmas break, troopers arrive at Broulim's and start loading all the meals that have been meticulously crafted by Broulim's employees. Meals are loaded into a convoy of State Police cars and deliveries are made to the schools. The reception from the students and faculty makes all the effort seem easy.
Each year, the number of families in need has grown, and we have yet to deny any requests made by the schools. The community support for this program has been nothing short of inspiring. Without that strong support, this program would simply not be possible. Please help us continue to meet the needs of the families in our communities by providing a donation this Christmas season and help us reach our goal of providing 700 meals to those in need.
A huge thank you to our generous partners that help make this possible: Broulims Fresh Foods, The Idaho Pork Producers, and Westmark Credit Union.
And a special thank you to Sergeant Blake Higley and the Idaho State Police for helping start and organize this event each year and for the tremendous impact it has on our communities.
