However, in March 2023, his life was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with renal failure once again. This time, complications from his condition caused him to lose partial eyesight in his left eye, adding yet another challenge to an already difficult path. Hernan has been on dialysis since October of 2023.

<div>Despite these hardships, Hernan remains committed to his family, students, and players, inspiring all who know him with his strength and perseverance. The good news is that Hernan is now ready for a second kidney transplant—a procedure that offers him the opportunity to regain his health and continue his role as a loving father, husband, teacher, and coach. He is on the transplant list at the Hospital Universitario Dr. José Eleuterio González, in Monterrey, Mexico.

<div>However, the financial burden is significant. Between surgery costs, post-transplant medications, travel, and recovery expenses, Hernan and his family need help to make this life-saving procedure possible. The program requires the surgery to be paid in full before he can receive an organ.
