Hello everyone,

Help Luke Brown Dance take Walk of the Dandelion around the country. Donate to help us to continue our hopeful steps forward walks with our larger-than-life puppet. With your help, I can continue to offer our five ways to well-being dandelion-making mindfulness workshops to communities. With your support, we can continue spreading positivity and resilience messages!

New to this project? Let me introduce myself. My name is Luke, and I am the Artistic Director of Luke Brown Dance. Walk of the Dandelion is an uplifting community engagement project designed to spread joy and connect families, friends and communities in outdoor and indoor settings. At the heart of the project is our friendly, gift-giving puppet Daniel. As an artist living with mental health struggles & trauma recovery, I am using my experience to create honest work that advocates discussion around resilience, moving it from taboo to normal. A significant element for me is moving away from silencing struggles and supporting, through art activities, the framework for a positive recovery.

Last year we piloted the project for families, care homes, primary, secondary and college pupils and hospital patients and staff who all engaged meaningfully with the project, not to mention passers-by who stopped to talk to us on our travels. I spoke about strategies to manage good mental health through puppetry, contemporary dance and our FREE bespoke five ways to wellbeing dandelion crafting workshops (can you spot them in the photos).

Walk of the Dandelion - taking hopeful steps forward, supports all people to be mindful, courageous, talk, connect & focus on their resilience.

“I have had setbacks this year, but there are days like today where I relax and breath... which give me so much hope for the future.” Parks in Mind participant

Your donations will:

- allow us time and resources to continue to offer our five ways to wellbeing workshops for, among others: families; primary children, including those with special educational needs; adults with mental health needs; hospital patients, families and staff; adults with learning disabilities.

- help us create parades of positivity. Participants make their symbols of resilience- dandelion seed head puppets- to join the Walk of the Dandelion performance and bring messages of hope and strength to the public.

Words so far - "beautiful". "powerful". "extremely moving". "uplifting". "important"

Please support this project in any way that you can. Your kindness, love, and generosity towards this project will help raise funds to bring Daniel to as many people as possible.

Walk of the Dandelion will include the future submission of an Arts Council England application in the hope of bringing the entire production to fruition in the summer of 2023 and beyond.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.

Warmest of wishes,
Luke Brown
