Donate to help the people of Pernambuco, Brazil

And with a total amount raised of €1,210 raised on this page, we finish our flash global campaign! People from so many different countries contributed and shared this fundraiser that means so much to me. Thank you so much for contributing on helping the victims of the floods back in my home state of Pernambuco - your kindness is really appreciated and I wish nothing but double of this feeling to everyone

I’ve started to receive and transfer the funds to the SOS Enchentes em Pernambuco and once we’re back from the bank holiday, more will be sent from your generous donations and from my employer Distilled, who are doubling the amount sent from us on this campaign - this means we will be sending a total of at least 3,000 euros. As of today (3 June), €885,65 have already been sent!!

Feel free to check all of my detailed updates on my instagram page https://instagram.com/sayobittencourt or keep an eye here next week for our last announcement.

Keep safe and chat soon <3

Hi, my name is Sayonara, but everyone calls me Sayo, and I am a Brazilian woman living in Dublin, Ireland. I'm originally from the state/province of Pernambuco, and it breaks my heart seeing all the tragedy happening around the entire state. I know there are homes I've probably visited before that may not even be there anymore since they were in risky areas, and I'm asking for your help - I promise you that every little helps in this case as €5 go a long way once you convert to the Real, the national currency in Brazil.

Also as a great incentive, my employer Distilled https://www.distilled.ie/ has taken the initiative to MATCH anything that is raised on this campaign! So literally every little bit helps <3

Currently over 90 people have died due to the heavy rains and we still don't know the final official number as hundreds are being searched for under the debris. I'm leaving below a few links to pages showing videos of adults, children and elderly people going through this difficult time.

Our capital, Recife, was declared the first city in Brazil in an estate of emergency due to Climate Change, and today, the city with a population of just over four million is the 16th most vulnerable city to climate change in the world due to its geography, demographic and social inequality, according to the IPCC.

That means that in the next 100 years the majority of the city I grew up in could be underwater. Right now we need to raise as much as possible for the people that lost everything and keep working on creating better policies to avoid more tragedies like this. Our focus now is helping the more people we can and the best way I can do this is by raising as much as possible and making a direct donation to the SOS Pernambuco fundraiser created by Reasons to Believe, a non-profit nationwide organisation focused on raising funds to help in all kinds of emergencies, including climate disasters.

If you need more information, please feel free to reach out to me! I'll keep the fundraiser page running until our goal is met or until the end of this week on 3rd June 2022.

I'll keep this page updated with more information! Below there are a few links with videos and international news on what's happening in Pernambuco right now. Thank you for your support (or Obrigada pelo seu apoio <3)
