We are in a crisis! The number of people sleeping outdoors has doubled since March due to the Covid-19 pandemic and it will only get worse through the winter months. As of the present day, there are about 7,530 enumerated homeless individuals and families in Ottawa. On average, about 1300 people use a homeless shelter, such as Shepherds of Good Hope, each night. I am raising money to put toward subsidized housing and mental health supports for those who can not afford it while creating awareness of homelessness and research long term solutions. I would like to change the attitude people have towards homeless families/individuals and create a more understanding, empathetic environment in our community.
