Hello my name is Marc McDonald. I am setting up this fundraiser on behalf of my brother-in-law Darell Preston, owner of LoRell’s Chicken Shack in Portland OR. On Thursday June, 15th Darell was attacked outside of his food cart at 5205 SE Foster Road. The incident is now an open investigation with Portland Police Department and is being described as an unprovoked random and racially motivated attack and potential hate crime. While taking a phone call behind his cart, he was blindsided by his attacker, and repeatedly punched and stomped suffering a broken nose, fractured face, and lacerations to his eyes and mouth. Darell is a local community business owner known for his phenomenal Chicago style chicken, his big heart, and even bigger smile. Due to this attack, he will be unable to work his cart causing an obvious financial burden on himself and our family. With this GoFundMe we hope that loved ones, family, friends, and customers will help support LoRell’s as Darell begins his recovery process. All donations will be directly deposited into LoRell’s business account and used to cover Darell’s medical costs, legal representation, and other business costs associated with him being unable to work his food cart. Please share this story so that the person responsible can be caught and justice served. Thank you for all the donations/contributions. We are beyond blessed for all the support and greatly appreciate you all!
