Hello. My name is Orazio. I live in Elmhurst, NYC. I’m an over 60 father of a five year old little girl who is a true blessing in my life. She is my only child. I’m married to Mary, a wonderful mother and woman. Together she and I are raising our daughter Ciara to be a happy and caring person. I am here because in early August of 2022 I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. As you may imagine life for me and my family changed overnight. I was hospitalized at Bellevue Hospital Center and my first round of chemotherapy was completed there. Since then I have been undergoing outpatient chemotherapy at the NYU Langone Perlmutter Cancer Center. The goal is remission of the cancer to a “zero level” status so that I can undergo a Stem Cell transplant into my bone marrow. The process has required many months of treatment and testing and waiting. There are many more months of the same to come. Normally I would be taking care of Ciara in all ways including drop off and pick up at a nearby school. My wife works full time as a nanny for a very kind and considerate employer who understands our situation. I am here fund raising to help my family get through the next year and catch up with our needs in the past year. There have been and are additional costs due to my medical situation and our monthly bills to which I can not contribute. We need help with both these. That my wife and daughter are able to live as normal a life despite my own medical situation is why I am here asking for help. I will do my best during this time to be strong and positive so as to overcome this illness and continue to be a good father to my daughter and a good husband to my wife. Thank you.
