Donate to Help Ret. K9 Gunner Get Cancer Treatment

Hi! We are the Bowman Family. Our dog Gunner worked as a Police K9 for the City of Cannon Beach, with Corporal Joseph Bowman as his handler. Gunner retired from duty in 2020, and has since been enjoying retirement and the sole duty of getting tons of love as the family dog.

Gunner is currently 10 years old, and has the heart and spunk of puppy. A couple of months ago we noticed a growth inside of Gunner’s mouth. We rushed to get him in for surgery to remove it and were told the devastating news we had feared to hear. The cells from the growth came back as cancerous, malignant melanoma.

A couple of days ago, Gunner was taken to an Oncologist in Portland to run some additional tests. We received some hopeful news, the cancer appears to have not spread! Our next step is to arrange for an aggressive surgery, where the veterinarians will remove part of Gunner’s jaw, to remove what is left of the cancerous cells.

Unfortunately, this surgery is not cheap. The Oncologist has quoted us that it will be between $7,853-$9,597. We are hopeful that we will be able to raise enough money to move forward with this vital surgery.
