I have degenerative arthritis of the spine, exasperated emphysema, and mental illnesses that have left me in position where my doctors have ruled me unable to work and the government classes me as Permanently Disabled. I have incomplete healthcare coverage due to being on Medicare under 65 while receiving SNAP benefits, which in Rhode Island disqualifies me from receiving Medicaid. I am on 15 medications (some with actibely debilitating side effects) filled monthly and have $750 in growing medical debt. I have at least 2 physician appointments a month with $50 co-pays. These factors make paying rent and utilities very difficult and any unexpected expenses can get me far off track. I have committed myself to a life of stability, and that puts me in a position I can't imagine assuming when I was less committed to stability - asking for help. I hope you can forgive my requests. It all came back clear: my cancer is dead. 5 very long years but as of now I am no more likely to develop cancer than anyone else. You did this with me. So, that's pretty cool. It is getting really, really scary in terms of not having enough money to eat for the month anymore and my lack if options if my handshake deal housing falls through. <div>Chemotherapy for Hodgkin's 5 years ago left me with long term neuropathy hindering mobility, tactile sensation, and balance. Most people lose chemo neuropathy 6 months after treatment concludes. "That's not the kind of chemo you got" my oncologist tells me.

<div>I also suffer from acute asthma worsened by the effects of chemo. There is a black spot on one of my lungs that makes some doctors diagnose as COPD but my pulmonologist insists accumulated damage from asthma. the effects are the same as those of early emphysema
</div>
<div>This year, I was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis of the spine, which puts me in debilitating pain all day. My psych meds have caused me to gain considerable weight, further impeding my mobility and pressure on my spine. I don't take pain meds, or drink for that matter. Physical therapy has been prescribed but i can't even remotely afford it.

<div>In Rhode Island, the combined sum of SNAP funds and Social Security Disability Insurance make you ineligible for Medicaid. My doctor's appointments almost always have a $50 copay, I have about 4 a month, and I don't / cannot legally drive.
</div>
<div>My legal status is Permanently Disabled and this was determined in consideration of my physical limitations, my major depressive disorder, and my attention deficit discorder. I am on 9 different psych meds, plus prescriptions for asthma and allergies. Permanently Disabled means no work at all or I lose the benefits I cannot live without.
</div>
<div>Every month, expenses grow and what they say about money not being static is true. Before cancer I was mostly described irl as a hard worker and I was very proud of that. The only immediate family I have is my sibling who rules and helps me the best they can.
</div>
<div>There is nowhere to live in Rhode Island. The state and Providence are prohibitively expensive and the two leading realtors use algos to fuck the public. If I lose my housing, which i only have as a result of friends, i have no recourse.
</div>
<div>I'm hesitant to get into this, because of what I feel is a growing skepticism about psychiatric disorders, but my depression is described as treatment resistant. It's the kind of depression people die from, and it comes with debilitating anxiety and ptsd.
</div>
<div>I have asked so much of you over the years, and I'm sorry to show up begging like this. The world is harder and narrower every day, and I need some help.

<div>Hi. Thank you all so much. The last 10 years have felt grueling at times, but your generosity is one of the most profound experiences of my life, and contributes greatly to my healing.

<div>The way a person's body responds to chemo is a funny thing. It varies widely and can worsen over the time that passes since treatment. In short, my body is damaged. The increasing severity of the symptoms of chemo survival, neuropathy, asthma, and other health issues, I can't return to the fields I worked in and pursue work from home with little luck. This has been the case for over 2 years now, and will continue into the future. I'm trying to establish that I can secure housing in the event that I lose where I live now, as well as resources for utilities. There are so few options for any affordable housing anywhere that I'm genuinely terrified of what happens if I'm left in the cold. I spent a good stretch of time homeless prior to cancer and i never want to be in that situation again. I'm attempting to raise further funds towards that goal. Homelessness sucks and I feel badly asking after already asking so much of my friends. I don't want to live on a wire and can't change that myself. I can't work and am permanently disabled.
