<div>Hi, my name is J.P. Reader. I have degenerative arthritis of the spine, exasperated emphysema, and mental illnesses that have left me in position where my doctors have ruled me unable to work and the government classes me as Permanently Disabled. I have incomplete healthcare coverage due to being on Medicare under 65 while receiving SNAP benefits, which in Rhode Island disqualifies me from receiving Medicaid. I am on 15 medications (some with actibely debilitating side effects) filled monthly and have $750 in growing medical debt. I have at least 2 physician appointments a month with $50 co-pays. These factors make paying rent and utilities very difficult and any unexpected expenses can get me far off track. I have committed myself to a life of stability, and that puts me in a position I can't imagine assuming when I was less committed to stability - asking for help. I hope you can forgive my requests. Your generosity is the greatest sense of community I have ever known. Thank you.

<div>Hi, I've received some generous donations but I'm afraid medical expenses just keep building and i'm still some ways away from securing rent. Absolutely any contribution makes a huge difference. Thank you for your patience and support.

<div>Hi, thank you for all your support. Unfortunately, my crisis is ongoing and escalating. I can't work and need $1150 in housing and $200 in medical expenses for this month. It seems impossible. I'm sorry to do this. Asking for help, despite how it may seem, is incredibly difficult for me, but I must ask for any help that can be spared. Thank you for your generosity, and your continued patience.

<div>Hi. I have to ask for help. I do not have rent after my expenses for this month and my electric bill is also due. I have done everything I can to avoid asking for help but I feel left with no further options. I am requesting aid with my rent and bills, as well as over all stability. I'm sorry I can't work. I'm sorry I keep coming back. I'm sorry this reads stiltedly but I'm not doing well psychologically. I really wish my life wasn't like this but it stands to get drastically worse without help. Thank you for reading.

<div>Hi. I know you're probably sick as hell of me posting this stuff and thank you to all who have contributed. Unfortunately, i still have to ask for help. If you can spare anything it would help enormously. I just got hit with 2 new big medical bills and a new electric bill. I know everyone is hurting. I would not do this if I could avoid it at all. The toll it takes on me to debase myself like this is crushing. Thank you for reading.

<div>Hi. I recently was hired for some freelance work and then last week informed I wasn't needed and this has left a major deficit in my funds. Last month was rough. I had to push my utilities, medical visit, and medication bills ($280) to this month and I am already overdrawn by $154 with no earned income on the horizon. I will not have next month's rent of $951 without financial assistance from you. I'm very sorry to come to you again, but this world is a very hard place to be poor in right now. Thank you for reading.

<div>Hi. I wish this update didn't have to go out. As many if not all of you know, food stamps, or SNAP, have been cancelled for november. I survive off SNAP benefits and government assistance and this is a devastating blow to my day to day existence. It feels terrible to ask for help in the face of such widespread strife but I spent this month recovering from surgery and I'm wiped out. My food will start to run out this week. Any assistance you can provide is enormously appreciated. Thank you for reading and your continued support.

<div>Hey, everyone. I have some news you might be into during this week full of ugly crap. I got bloodwork done yesterday morning for my last regular cancer screening. It all came back clear: my cancer is dead. 5 very long years but as of now I am no more likely to develop cancer than anyone else. You did this with me. So, that's pretty cool. I still need a lot of help managing the fallout and more recent health problems detailed at length below. It is getting really, really scary in terms of not having enough money to eat for the month anymore and my lack if options if my handshake deal housing falls through. All that is aside from medical and travel expenses. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. I know i ask a lot of you and I'm sorry fir that. Thank you for your time and generosity.

<div>Hi please let me thank the generous contributors who have pushed this campaign forward so far. All help is appreciated. Thank you very much. My medical bills are about to increase steeply due to some upcoming surgeries, my monthly utilities went up over $50, and groceries seem to have doubled in cost. Please help if you can.

<div>Chemotherapy for Hodgkin's 5 years ago left me with long term neuropathy hindering mobility, tactile sensation, and balance. Most people lose chemo neuropathy 6 months after treatment concludes. "That's not the kind of chemo you got" my oncologist tells me.
</div>
<div>I also suffer from acute asthma worsened by the effects of chemo. There is a black spot on one of my lungs that makes some doctors diagnose as COPD but my pulmonologist insists accumulated damage from asthma. the effects are the same as those of early emphysema
</div>
<div>This year, I was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis of the spine, which puts me in debilitating pain all day. My psych meds have caused me to gain considerable weight, further impeding my mobility and pressure on my spine. I don't take pain meds, or drink for that matter. Physical therapy has been prescribed but i can't even remotely afford it.
</div>
<div>In Rhode Island, the combined sum of SNAP funds and Social Security Disability Insurance make you ineligible for Medicaid. My doctor's appointments almost always have a $50 copay, I have about 4 a month, and I don't / cannot legally drive.
</div>
<div>My legal status is Permanently Disabled and this was determined in consideration of my physical limitations, my major depressive disorder, and my attention deficit discorder. I am on 9 different psych meds, plus prescriptions for asthma and allergies. Permanently Disabled means no work at all or I lose the benefits I cannot live without.
</div>
<div>Every month, expenses grow and what they say about money not being static is true. Before cancer I was mostly described irl as a hard worker and I was very proud of that. The only immediate family I have is my sibling who rules and helps me the best they can.
</div>
<div>There is nowhere to live in Rhode Island. The state and Providence are prohibitively expensive and the two leading realtors use algos to fuck the public. If I lose my housing, which i only have as a result of friends, i have no recourse.
</div>
<div>I'm hesitant to get into this, because of what I feel is a growing skepticism about psychiatric disorders, but my depression is described as treatment resistant. It's the kind of depression people die from, and it comes with debilitating anxiety and ptsd.
</div>
<div>I have asked so much of you over the years, and I'm sorry to show up begging like this. The world is harder and narrower every day, and I need some help.
</div>
<div>Thank you for your patience and generosity.

<div>The Story So Far
</div>
<div>Hi. Thank you all so much. The last 10 years have felt grueling at times, but your generosity is one of the most profound experiences of my life, and contributes greatly to my healing.
</div>
<div>The way a person's body responds to chemo is a funny thing. It varies widely and can worsen over the time that passes since treatment. In short, my body is damaged. The increasing severity of the symptoms of chemo survival, neuropathy, asthma, and other health issues, I can't return to the fields I worked in and pursue work from home with little luck. This has been the case for over 2 years now, and will continue into the future. I'm trying to establish that I can secure housing in the event that I lose where I live now, as well as resources for utilities. There are so few options for any affordable housing anywhere that I'm genuinely terrified of what happens if I'm left in the cold. I spent a good stretch of time homeless prior to cancer and i never want to be in that situation again. I'm attempting to raise further funds towards that goal. Homelessness sucks and I feel badly asking after already asking so much of my friends. I don't want to live on a wire and can't change that myself. I can't work and am permanently disabled. I need help. Thank you.

<div>Good morning and hello. Everyone has been awesome. Thank you so much for all your time and generosity. Unbelievably, this fundraiser has come within $1,040 of achieving its goal for securing stability. I think that maybe after this update I'll chill on their frequency going forward, though the fundraiser will continue to be active. The outpouring of support continues to be profoundly meaningful to me. I may have fallen short of my goal for now, but, you know, you hold your head up, face reality, rejoice in your friends, and do the best you can, right? Thank you so much. Any further assistance is greatly appreciated.
