Hello, my name is Cathrine, and I have started a fundraiser for Mbacke. For thirteen years, he has ensured that tourists have arrived safely back and forth from the airport in Gambia to wonderful Senegal. Mbacke is a cheerful and welcoming tourist host with lots of humor and good stories.

Outside the tourist season, he has provided medical transport and taxi assignments for the local population in and around Kabadio, his home village. Mbacke is the man whose door is open, and people knock when they are in need. Night as day. He has two children to support, a fourteen years old daughter and a ten years old son with a severe hearing problem and aging parents for whom he is responsible.

But now Murphy's Law has completely taken over.

In 2020, the pandemic came, and the tourists disappeared. The old Pajero car fell victim to rainy weather and engine failure. There is no more to repair. Mbacke lost his car and has been unemployed for almost three years in a country where unemployment is nearly 45%. He has taken on odd jobs in agriculture where possible, but these have only been little money and poor working conditions. I have tried to help him as best I can. But the pandemic also hit me, my company went bankrupt, and my health failed. So even though I must help Mbacke, I am out of resources.

We need help buying a used car so that Mbacke can rebuild his workplace in Kabadio. Kabadio is a small village 12 miles south of the Gambia border. The town has 3,000 inhabitants, and the infrastructure is poor. A good car and a reliable driver are essential for the local people in and around the village. But it is also vital for Mbacke to fulfill his obligations toward his children and parents.
