Emilia, a little girl from Ukraine, needs your help! She was born on December 8, 2020. On the third day of her life she had a seizure, after which she was admitted to the intensive care unit. She was on a ventilator for 7 days. After that she was prescribed anticonvulsants, which she takes to this day.
We went to several doctors in Ukraine, but no one could find the cause and offer treatment. She had over 10 sessions of massage therapy. We were examined in Turkey and Spain. The doctors diagnosed Emilia with a genetic disorder, QARS1, a form of epilepsy controlled by medication, along with microcephaly, and severe developmental delay.
We came to the United States under the "United for Ukraine" program due to the war in Ukraine. Today Emilia is 2 years and 2 months old. She can't sit, stand, speak, walk or maintain eye contact. The doctors confirmed the diagnosis and unfortunately, there is no treatment for this disorder, only rehabilitation.
Emilia receives services through an early intervention program, and three times a week she goes to the Keep Moving Forward rehabilitation center. The therapists at the center use different methods, including DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention). The sessions cost $185 per hour.
Emilia has already achieved small results, but the doctors recommend intensive therapy at the cost $7,875 for three weeks, to enhance the therapeutic effects. We really want to help this child and put her back on her feet. However, our family’s financial situation is very difficult at the moment, so we humbly ask for help from anyone who is willing and able to offer financial assistance. Thank you.
