Deema is 19 years old and studying dentistry at Al-Azhar University in Gaza. She dreams of becoming a dentist, but right now, that dream is slipping further away because of the unimaginable conditions she’s facing.

She is living in a tent in northern Gaza, with no electricity, no running water, and no basic necessities. Every night, she sits in complete darkness, unable to read her books or study for her exams. Yet, despite everything, she refuses to give up.

Right now, a torch in Gaza costs £400—an amount that has skyrocketed due to the siege and destruction. With this torch, Deema will finally have light to study, something so basic yet absolutely essential for her to continue her education.
