<div>Harrison Alan Jenks was born on 06/21/25. During labor, shoulder dystopia occurred and Harrison didn’t take his first breaths like he needed to. As they were trying to stabilize him, they found out he had a birth defect called esophageal atresia and he needed to be transferred to a facility with a NICU to undergo a few rounds of surgery. He ended up needing emergency surgery less than 12 hours after he was born. Everything went well, but at the very end of his second surgery a few days later he hemorrhaged and it took everyone on the operating team to keep him alive. The hospital called and told his parents to rush to the hospital because they weren’t sure if he’d make it through the night since it was so traumatic. He made it through, then a week later, they got a call that they found a potentially cancerous spot on his adrenal glands and he has a blood clot in his brain due to the clotting medications they gave him during his hemorrhage. A week after that, they found out he had a staph infection and pneumonia in his lungs and his little body was having a hard time fighting it off. They called the parents that night and told them to rush down, that he was very critical and they weren’t sure if he was gonna make it. He ended up making it through the night. But that evening they decided to transfer him to UVA because he was in full respiratory failure and a pulmonary hypertension crisis. They felt he’d do better at a more advanced hospital that is more equipped to deal with his problems. Little Harrison has been in the NICU for 4 weeks now and his parents have decided to start accepting donations. The donations will be used for medical expenses, travel expenses and life expenses that arise from this unique situation they’re in with having their son 3-1/2 hours away from them while also taking care of a toddler and pets at home. If for some reason you don’t feel like donating or just not in the place to do so, the most important thing you can do is pray for Harrison. He’s a fighter, but he could use the extra support!
