I'm reaching out today with an urgent and heartfelt plea for my dear friend, V, who is a remarkable trans woman in her 20's. She's been a dear friend for years - that's her precious self-portrait above.

For several years now, V has been socially transitioned, living authentically as the woman she knows herself to be. She's been bravely navigating the journey of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), which has been an essential step in her transition. One crucial, life-saving step remains - gender-affirming surgery.

This surgery isn't just cosmetic; for trans individuals, it's often a medically necessary and life-affirming procedure that significantly reduces gender dysphoria, drastically improves mental health, and allows them to live fully and authentically in their bodies. Without it, the emotional and psychological toll can be immense.

Unfortunately, V isn't in a good position to ask her family for the financial support she needs for her copay and expenses for this critical care. This means she's facing this hurdle on her own, and it's heartbreaking to see her struggle with the continued trauma of living in a body that doesn't feel like hers.
