Hi everyone,

My name is Erika, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult moments in my life. Earlier this year, I was hospitalized with acute diverticulitis and a micro perforation in my colon. After weeks of dealing with pain, strict diets, medications, and constant worry, I’ve now been scheduled for surgery to remove the affected part of my colon (a sigmoid resection). This is a major surgery, and recovery will take time.

As a single mom of two, this situation is especially hard. I’ll be out of work for at least a month, possibly longer, and unfortunately, I won’t be receiving my full pay during that time. I’ve always tried to be strong and handle everything on my own, so putting this out there is really humbling and honestly a little embarrassing for me—but I know I need help and can't just rely on my parents either. They have their own things going on.

This fundraiser is to help cover basic living expenses during my recovery: bills, medical bills, medications, things I may need while I’m healing. I don't have an actual "goal" but every bit of support—from donations to simply sharing this—means more than I can express.
