<div>The family is writing this letter to request donations to support <strong>Erica Williams</strong>, who is currently facing significant health challenges. It has been a difficult decision to go public with her situation, but the need for assistance has become critical.

<div>Over the past nine months, Erica has been fighting for her life, independence, and survival. After a series of falls that progressively worsened, she became bedridden and has spent much of this time in and out of the hospital, undergoing various forms of rehabilitation. Despite her best efforts to manage financially by relying on her savings, those resources have now been exhausted.

<div>Erica is no longer able to walk, stand, or pivot, and her daily survival now depends entirely on the assistance of others. While family members have done their best to care for her at home, the level of care she requires exceeds what they are able to provide. As a result, she is currently staying at a rehabilitation center, where she has been for over 50 days. Unfortunately, as many know, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) benefits only cover up to 12 weeks and do so without pay.

<div>As of October 31, 2024, Erica's insurance coverage was discontinued. After 22 years of service, she had hoped to receive an exception or extension, but was informed that this was not possible. Faced with the choice of paying for COBRA coverage at over $1,000 per month or finding alternative insurance, Erica made the difficult decision to continue with COBRA to maintain her current coverage and avoid a gap in care.

<div>However, on November 12, the rehabilitation center informed her that her insurance (BCBS) would no longer cover the cost of her stay. After filing an appeal, the decision was denied. The cost to stay in the rehabilitation center is $308 per day, with an additional charge of $1 per minute for each physical and occupational therapy session—costs she cannot afford without income.

<div>Erica is also in the process of seeking new insurance and additional resources, but this will take time. She is reaching out to family, friends, and the community for financial support during this difficult period. <strong>Any contribution, no matter how small, will be a tremendous help in ensuring she receives the care she needs.</strong>

<div>One of Erica’s favorite scriptures, which she is standing on during this challenging time, is Psalms 50:15: "Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me."
