<div>Hi, this GoFund me is for my nephew. Eli is a sweet 6 year old boy, who has Autism and since he was little has gone through so much in life. Recently he was thrown with a curveball. On October 17th, 2023 he had ear tubes put in and his adenoids removed, as soon as he was out of his procedure he mentioned having severe pain neck pain which we were told was "normal" and he should be back to his happy self after a couple of days.

<div>Weeks went by and his pain got worse and worse. He was admitted to the hospital twice with torticollis but even after IV steroids and antibiotics his neck continue to be crooked. His pain was finally under control but his neck was not able to be straighten out. At that moment we gave them what we were given as a suggestion of what could be his diagnosis. <strong>Grisel Syndrome</strong> - a very rare complication from getting adenoids removed.

<div>Fast forward 8 months since his surgery, his neck is still unable to move, after many visits with Neurologist, Orthopedist and ENT they finally found a doctor that would listen and would be willing to help Eli. Sadly, 8 months without proper treatment and being bounced from doctor to doctor that it made things more complicated. If they would have listen from the beginning he would have had cervical traction and be done in less then a month but now, he is having to travel out of state to get a rotatory fixation plate. Which will take time to recover after. He must travel out of state because the spinal cord could be nicked and cause him to have a stroke.

<div>He already has numbness in his arms and legs, has caused him to be dizzy and fall , his vision has shifted and now this out of state surgery.

<div>Pasaron las semanas y su dolor empeoraba cada vez más. Fue ingresado en el hospital dos veces con tortícolis, pero incluso después de recibir esteroides y antibióticos por vía intravenosa, su cuello sigue torcido. Su dolor finalmente estuvo bajo control pero su cuello no podía enderezarse. En ese momento les dimos lo que nos dieron como sugerencia de cuál podría ser su diagnóstico. Síndrome de Grisel: una complicación muy rara derivada de la extirpación de adenoides.

<div>8 meses después de su cirugía, su cuello todavía no puede moverse; después de muchas visitas al neurólogo, ortopedista y otorrinolaringólogo, finalmente encontraron un médico que lo escucharía y estaría dispuesto a ayudar a Eli. Lamentablemente, 8 meses sin el tratamiento adecuado y pasando de un médico a otro hicieron las cosas más complicadas. Si hubieran escuchado desde el principio, le habrían sometido a tracción cervical y se habría realizado en menos de un mes, pero ahora tiene que viajar fuera del estado para realizarse poner una placa de fijasion giratoria. Lo cual tomará tiempo para recuperarse después. Debe viajar fuera del estado porque la médula espinal podría cortarse y provocarle un derrame cerebral.

<div>Ya tiene entumecimiento en brazos y piernas, le ha causado mareos y caídas, su visión ha cambiado y ahora esta cirugía fuera del estado.
