My name is Eric Brown and my dearest friend of 10 years, Sanda Tamas, is in need of your help. Sanda was diagnosed with Stage 3C Colon Cancer in December of 2020, at the young age of 39. She is now 43 years old and since initial diagnosis, she has undergone two rounds of chemotherapy and is now Stage 4 (more detail to follow). She has had a very tough time since first learning the news of her cancer and has not been able to work much or get life insurance since then. She has an eight-year old little girl that she loves dearly and she is most distraught about her daughter losing her Mom at such a young age. Family, close friends and her own savings have been able to help over the last few years but Sanda’s lack of income, added debt and pending funeral expenses is adding to her anxiety as she does not want to leave friends and family under additional financial obligations. Most people don’t expect to need life insurance for such matters when they are not even 40 years old.
Lack of life insurance and unable to work, Sanda’s family has no savings for eventual funeral expenses or enough money to manage her monthly bills. Our goal of $45,000 is to help relieve the additional emotional burden, that she carries by, raising money that can help her pay down some bills, help make up for lost wages (a little) and to save for her funeral expenses. Any amount of help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Every amount would help, $5, $10, $25 or more all adds up. We appreciate your support in advance!!
Sanda is a beautiful person with an amazing heart and I’d love for her to have a little peace of mind. She loves her daughter (Eva) and husband (Greg), more than anything, and is a big animal lover with two small dogs. One of her dreams had been to open an animal sanctuary/refuge to help animals in need. I know that there are others in a similar situation and I urge anyone to pay attention to the signs of such a terrible disease. Please don’t let doctors tell you that signs of cancer are likely something else, simply because you are “too young” to have cancer.
Symptoms began in late 2019. She had been experiencing severe abdominal pains for more than a year but was told it was one thing or another but was never given a colonoscopy until it was very advanced. Eventually, she found a doctor that would listen. The colonoscopy revealed a baseball sized tumor in her colon. She was immediately rushed to surgery and had the tumor removed. Unfortunately, the cancer had spread to local lymph nodes and was deemed to be Stage 3C (the most advanced before Stage 4). She was given a 50-50 chance of surviving 5 years. Prior to starting chemotherapy, she underwent further medical testing and was also found to have a secondary cancer. She was started on the most aggressive regimen of chemotherapy for 3 months and was scheduled for surgery to remove the secondary cancer. Two months after surgery, she received another 3 months of chemotherapy for colon cancer. The chemotherapy left her with severe neuropathy but she was cancer free and looking forward to living her life to the fullest.
Unfortunately, less than 2 years later, scans showed that her cancer had spread to her para-aortic lymph nodes – only 1-2% of colon cancer patients cancer spreads to this location and has a poor prognosis (3 to 33 months typical life expectancy). This now meant she was Stage 4. After much consideration, and knowing how difficult chemotherapy was and for the sake of her daughter, she decided to endure more treatments. Her first round of chemo sent her to the hospital where it was determined that she had an allergic reaction. Luckily, her oncologist was able to find a targeted therapy that would help but that only lasted for 4 months at which point she was told it was no longer effective and was only causing her more nausea, severe skin irritation and itching. In January 2024, she stopped chemo and in April of 2024, scans showed that her cancer had numerous tumors that had spread to her lungs. Her health, emotional wellbeing continues to suffer.
Sanda started her first job when she was 14 years old and was always gainfully employed all the way until she started chemo in February of 2021. Unfortunately, she had recently started working at a new company and was not eligible for short term disability yet and had not signed up for long term disability or life insurance. She was out of work, with no income, from February 2021 to October 2021. She went back to work from October 2021 through April 2022 but she never felt the same and decided to take some time to heal, and to spend some quality time with her daughter, by resigning in April 2022. She barely got a year of time off when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Luckily, she was able to get some extra time with Eva and Greg, but her health makes it difficult for them to fully enjoy it. Any help you can give, would be more appreciated than you know!
Thank you so much for your consideration in helping my friend in need!
