Hello! Tom and I have decided to start a GoFundMe page to help support his brother, Jeff, and his wife, Theresa. As some of you are aware by now, Jeff suffered a stroke back in March 2023 caused by an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), or a brain malformation that can cause a stroke by rupturing and bleeding into the brain. Needless to say, it’s been a long road to recovery. He continues to do physical therapy and had been making great strides. Unfortunately, in the last 8 weeks, he began suffering from mini seizures, extreme weakness, and fatigue. Doctors have put him on doses of steroids and anti-seizure medications, which seem to address the seizures but have caused him trouble sleeping and depression. He feels his progress in his physical activity and mobility has regressed about 6 months. He recently went to the ER, after multiple failed attempts to get help from his doctors, to have tests that now have led to another angiogram being scheduled as the neurologists believe he may have an even bigger and deeper arteriovenous malformation (AVM) that if it bursts will have catastrophic consequences.
Theresa has been Jeff’s guardian angel. She works 45-60 hours a week, 12-hour days, as an LPN at a local nursing home. She comes home on breaks to check on Jeff, assisting him any way she can. She was, up until April this year, the primary source of income. Jeff was finally approved for SSDI after a year of applying, being denied, and going through the appeals. Theresa too has had her fair share of health issues this past year, luckily nothing that has left her incapacitated. However, it seems these two can’t catch a break.
After everything these two have been through, Tom and I decided we would make this page to surprise them by raising a little bit of money to take some of the financial stress away and put their minds at ease for a while. We know that both Jeff and Theresa would never ask for anything from anyone and that each of them would give the shirts off their backs to help others, so we are asking for them. Please help reach our goal by donating if you can, as every $1 counts. Also, please share this page on your social media accounts so it can reach as many people as possible.
