Hello everyone, my name is Russell. I’m making this page on behalf of Hallei Floyd and my best friend, Connor. On June 28th, Hallei was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (a form of blood cancer that develops in your lymphatic system) at the age of 27. From the moment she received the diagnosis, Hallei immediately had a true fighter’s mentality, despite knowing the road ahead of her would be challenging and life-altering.

She is a person full of life with a love for animals, plants, traveling, cooking, and her loved ones. She’s spent the better part of her adult life working as a vet tech and has helped save the lives of countless animals. Hallei and Connor have been together for nearly 7 years and got engaged this past December. They are the kind of people who wouldn’t hesitate to help their friends, loved ones, and people in their communities within their means, so I want to make sure they get that same helping hand now in a time when they could really use it.

Just recently on July 23rd, Hallei completed her first week of chemotherapy. As she continues treatment intermittently for the foreseeable future, she’ll be out of work, so any money donated here will go towards alleviating the financial stress of uninsured hospital bills, general monthly bills such as rent, and temporarily covering the cost of living for them and their family of 5 dogs and 2 cats. Connor is doing all he can to support them financially right now but I want to make sure he doesn’t have to bear that burden alone. Know that if you’re not in a place financially to help them right now, any form of words, thoughts, and energy of love and support still mean the world to them.

I’ve attached some of Hallei’s story and experience receiving the diagnosis in her own words below. She also made an Instagram account to share updates on her journey and to bring hope and connection to others undergoing a similar process. The Instagram account is under the username of: @watchmebeatcancer

From Hallei back on June 29th:

“It is crazy that my life prior to June 1st was filled with an overwhelming amount of excitement for the future. Connor and I picked out our wedding venue. I bought my wedding dress. We were so excited for what the future had in store.

On June 1st, I woke up with a painless, enlarged lymph node in my neck.

I have had 3 CT scans, countless blood tests, a core needle biopsy, a trip to the emergency room, and a surgery to remove a few lymph nodes for additional diagnostics and staging. I went into respiratory distress after the surgery and had to be placed on a ventilator for a bit. I'm still in the hospital recovering.

The diagnostics confirmed that I have a mediastinal mass, and enlarged lymph nodes pressing on my internal jugular veins which is causing Superior Vena Cava Syndrome. Which explains my poor performance under anesthesia.

My entire life is being redefined. I have felt it ever since I woke up on June 1st with the initial symptoms.

I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma yesterday. I guess it's true that you never expect something as scary as cancer to happen to you or a loved one. I certainly didn't see this one coming. I was a normal, healthy, 27-year-old girl not even a month ago. It's scary to think what the future has in store for me. However, I know I have so many lovely people in my life that will support me through this new cancer lifestyle.

We have received nothing but love and support from close friends and family during the diagnosing process.

It means the world to me to know I have so many friends and family members that are here to support us during this difficult time.

Chemotherapy is absolutely in my near future. But I am ready to get my life back. I have so many things still planned for my future. Connor and I will get married.

We will own all of the Pomeranians. We will travel the world together. I'm sure of it.”
