Donate to Dr Tim’s Recovery

As many of you may know, Dr Tim suffered an incredible injury on Saturday, September 15. He and his twin brother were cutting down trees on their mother’s property, in an effort to help her sell her home to move into an assisted living facility. The very last tree they had to cut down was a 34 inch diameter dead tree that fell slow and awkward and a large tree limb hit Dr Tim on the right side of his head. 

He was life flighted to AGH where it was discovered that he had sustained a facial fracture, multiple skull fractures, a brain bleed, and a traumatic brain injury. After several days in the trauma unit, he was released to an inpatient acute care rehabilitation facility where he was deemed well enough to be released to go home on Tuesday, September 25. 

With time his skull and facial fractures will heal. However, we are MOST worried about his brain injury. Dr Tim has extreme vertigo, he cannot drive or ride in a car due to motion sickness from the brain injury. He can’t take long walks, can’t read, can’t focus, can’t listen to music, can’t watch tv nor can he interact with his family and friends in ways he previously could because it exacerbates his symptoms. The longer this brain injury remains without rehabilitation, the less of a chance we have to get back the father, the doctor, the friend we all know and love so much. 

Our family is desperate to get Dr Tim to Plasticity Brain Center in Orlando, Florida so that he can get the brain rehabilitation that will allow him to function like he used to, allow him to play with his young granddaughters, allow him to maybe even treat patients again.
