My name is Naseem, I am a 26-year-old medical imaging professional from Gaza, and today I am writing to you with a heavy heart and a plea for compassion.

On October 7, 2023, life as we knew it was torn apart. Our homes, dreams, and futures were reduced to rubble in a matter of moments. Gaza has known wars before, but this time, it felt like everything was taken from us — not just our buildings, but our very hopes of tomorrow.

I come from a family of six, each with dreams that once felt within reach. I had graduated from university, memorized the Holy Qur’an at 18, and dedicated myself to volunteering in hospitals. My dream was to take the employment exam and begin my career in medical imaging. I even pursued further studies in nutrition and had plans to continue my master’s.

But the war ended everything.

• The hospital where I volunteered was completely destroyed.

• For six months, I have been unable to continue my work.

• My house was bombed and reduced to rubble.

• My dreams of a stable future disappeared overnight.

Today, I am left without a home, without work, and without the very things I spent years working toward. Yet, despite everything, I still hold on to faith and the belief that kindness can rebuild what destruction has taken away.
