For this season of giving I’ve started a new fundraiser for the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund, a charity dedicated to help alleviate the suffering of the most critically wounded children of Gaza and Lebanon providing them with expert medical attention and treatment. The charity also works to evacuate the most severely injured children out of Gaza.
Dr Ghassan is an award winning British-Palestinian doctor who specialises in reconstructive surgery and trauma related injuries. He has worked extensively in conflict zones in Gaza and Lebanon both for the charities Doctors Without Borders and Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). He is also rector of the university of Glasgow.
The UN has stated that Gaza ‘is home to the largest cohort of child amputees in modern history, with about 10 children per day losing one or both legs’. Whilst we can be overwhelmed thinking of the size of the problem, we still have the capacity to do something to help. Whatever you give will go someway towards rebuilding a young life.
Thanks and sincere gratitude from the bottom of my heart.
Zina
