Hi, my name is Dean. I live in Denton, TX, with my boyfriend Allen and our four cats: Beth, Bert, Sheba, and Tigger. Bert is the star of this story! He is about 11 years old and loves to eat, have napping companions, play with toys, and adamantly vocalize his hopes and dreams! Bert scampers happily to the feeding tray whenever I give him and his cat family food. He is a treasure in our lives!
During the morning of February 6th, 2025, Bert remained limp and lethargic on the floor. He wasn't jumping over to eat food. He groaned and yowled with pain and moved very little. After some worrisome ideas, we finally decided to take him to the vet that very day. He was diagnosed with an urothelial obstruction (a blockage in the urinary tract that prevents urine from flowing properly) and umbilical hernia (a bulge that occurs when part of the intestines or abdominal fat pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall near the belly button). He would have died without treatment due to urination inability.
He then took him to the animal emergency room in South Denton. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery. It was a stressful time for us waiting. Come February 9th and Bert is now home! It's wonderful to have the fur cutie back! He is undergoing at-home medicines.
It's unfortunate to say to you all that life is costly. Even caring for the animals that love us in return for free seems to cost. A melancholy fact. With that said, we are facing several thousand dollars in animal ER bills. It's overwhelming, sudden, and depressing.
With Bert back on track, our finances might derail in return. That's why I'm asking for your assistance. Any monetary donation would help! Your contributions will help us recover from this sudden upsetting episode involving death and life and the avalanche of money involved.
I want to thank you profoundly for reading this. I especially thank you for donating, sharing this page with others, or even just praying/hoping for Bert's well-being and our financial stability. Even with just empathy and care, you are golden! So please don't hesitate any further: help us recover from the costs of preserving Bert's precious life!
