<div>in July, our brave 11-year-old Chet has faced an unimaginable journey. In mid-July, we were airlifted to Mayo Clinic for emergency brain surgery to remove a tumor and cyst from his brain. The surgery was successful, and doctors were optimistic, though we are still anxiously waiting on final pathology results to confirm whether the tumor is cancerous.

<div>Recovery has had its ups and downs. Chet spent several days in the PICU as his care team managed complications like fluid buildup and speech issues—he’s currently experiencing aphasia, a language disorder caused by brain trauma, but we’re hopeful that therapy will help him fully recover.

<div>On July 24, Chet was discharged from the hospital and is now home, working hard in recovery. He's already begun speech therapy twice a week. Physical and occupational therapy needs will be determined once school starts again. He’s showing strength and resilience every day, despite new challenges like peripheral vision loss in one eye.
