<div>A Simple Fall Turned Into a Life-Altering Nightmare

<div>In 2022, I slipped and broke my leg. What seemed like a fixable injury turned into a two-year medical crisis. I had four surgeries and resets, but the bone never healed properly.

<div>While hospitalized, I contracted C. diff, a severe intestinal infection. It kept coming back three times, in fact each time worse than the last. The final flare-up nearly killed me. My visiting nurse once told me my heart rate was so low, he wasn’t sure I’d make it.

<div>I was fighting for my life while bedridden and heavily medicated just to manage the pain and the infection.


</div>

<div>The recurring infections also led to serious bone infections, and after exhausting every option, doctors made the decision to amputate the lower part of my left leg in November 2023.

<div>I remained in the hospital and a rehab facility until March 2024, all while on constant antibiotics, pain management medication, and treatments that have left me both physically and financially drained.

<div>The Medical Costs Haven’t Stopped

<div>Even after being discharged, I’m still under constant care. I’m now learning to walk again using a prosthetic leg, but it’s a slow, painful process. I rely on a walker and wheelchair, and I still need regular medications, follow-ups, therapy, and specialist visits.

<div>With no job, no savings, and increasing medical debt, I can’t afford many of the prescriptions or therapy I desperately need to make a full recovery.

<div>While I Was Healing, I Lost Everything Else


</div>

<div>While I was in the hospital, I trusted a neighbor to care for my apartment and dog. But that trust was broken. She moved in, brought in strangers, and not long after, I was told that my SUV had disappeared from my parking spot.

<div>When I finally returned home, I found my front door kicked in, my window smashed, and all my belongings stolen groceries, laptop, clothes, toiletries, even my colognes. Thousands of dollars’ worth of my personal items… gone.

<div>To make things worse, I had to let my car insurance lapse because I had no income. So I couldn’t even file a claim for my stolen SUV. And the police told me it was my word against hers, since I had given her the keys. She has since disappeared, leaving me with no answers and no vehicle.

<div>Right now, I’m stuck. I have no transportation, no income, and mounting medical bills. I have no close family, and only one friend who helps push me in my wheelchair to the grocery store when he can but he doesn’t drive either.
