Hello Friends,
As you already know, this month I will be celebrating my 28th birthday. It's also Pride Month (thank you Marsha P. Johnson), Juneteeth, the Summer Solstice, the last day of Spring, and the end of the Gemini season. Earlier this year, I had planned to be home with my family before flying to Tokyo for an artist residency. Instead, I'm here fighting against racial injustice and the Rona at the same damn time.
As the protests quiet down, I want to remind everyone that the fight against racism and police brutality is on-going and that we can't let up just yet. Many people asked how they can support me at this time and this is how I want to be supported: for my birthday this year, I want my friends and allies to show up for the Black community by raising $5K to donate to the Black Lives Matter Global Network before 11:59EST on June 19th. It is a fitting way to celebrate my birthday, Pride Month, and Juneteenth. All of the proceeds will go directly through the BLM website.
