Hi!
I'm raising a survival fund for my dear friend Amelia. She loves avant-garde films, European socioeconomic history, and guitar theory. One day she wants to learn left-handed guitar. One day in the more immediate future, she'd like to be able to survive without worrying about homelessness.
She has a host of chronic conditions, most debilitating of them being ME/CFS, also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome. She's unable to reliably feed or wash herself, and requires significant assistance with attending her various medical appointments. On top of that, since she can't work or attend university like she used to be able to, she doesn't have reliable housing, so she's surviving on the kindness of her fellow broke peers (hi), and while our kindness and love for her is infinite, our money is not.
That's where you come in. While we work on getting her on SSI, she still needs to pay for motels to stay in, for her medicines, for the storage unit where she keeps her possessions, for food, and for the inevitable emergencies that happen when you're disabled.
As I write this, she's explaining how to tune a guitar to make ambient music. I want her to be able to explain this kind of thing to me for as long as she wants, and I want her to be able to rest. Please donate so next time we hang out on the phone, she can tell me what shoegaze is without the weight of debt hanging over our heads.
