I am raising funds for my son-in-law and his family.
Jason woke up at 2 a.m. on November 10, 2024, with severe stomach pain and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. After many tests and blood work, they found that he had a severe, complicated infection in his digestive tract. They were forced to stay in the ER for several days, which delayed treatment in the way it should have been given, even including having certain procedures performed in the ER hallway. This infection, as well as an abscess and fluid-filled pockets, caused him to have ileus, which is when the small intestines stop working. This condition requires a nasogastric tube, strong antibiotics, and IV fluids. He has been on these treatments since we got to the hospital and unfortunately still isn’t at a point where he can have any food or drinks. Still, after a full week of antibiotics, he has a large amount of inflammation, which has caused blockages in his digestive tract. We have no way of knowing how long he could be in the hospital, and surgery is still a possibility. Medical bills and related expenses are starting to accumulate.
Anyone who knows Mandy and Jason knows that they are super hard workers and never ask for anything. They need help. If you feel compelled to donate, it is so appreciated. Prayers are welcomed as this family navigates through this very difficult situation. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Update November 18 2024...MandyLynn McKinney
“ we are looking at being at the hospital for at least the rest of this week, fluids have been changed to give him more nutrition due the weight that he has lost since being there. He will need to continue using the nasogastric tube , antibiotics, and anti-fungals for the duration of his stay. There is still significant inflammation making it difficult for the doctors to confirm the cause and if surgery will still be necessary. Thank you so much for all the prayers and donations.
Update from Mandy...11/23/24
The surgeon clamped Jason Mckinney’s tube yesterday for a trial run.
He is taking fluids well, however is dealing with a lot of bloating and cramping. To get his digestive system really moving he needs to do a lot of walking which is extremely difficult with the pain and exhaustion that’s he’s dealing with.
The surgeon decided not to remove the tube today out of caution. It would be extremely unpleasant if they removed the tube and found out he was not ready just to have to insert the tube again.
We continue to be so grateful for all of the love and support that we continue to receive from near and far.
Continued prayers and love to give Jason the strength to keep pushing forward is greatly appreciated.
