Dear family, friends, and acquaintances, 

Anyone who knew our grandmother knew she was a sweet and kind woman. She was a

proud, strong, and independent woman who always pushed forward in life. Even after

the passing of our grandfather in 2013, she vowed to stay in Long Beach and continue

her life there. She spent around 30 years in the same home, seeing changing faces

around her building. 

She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and

neighbor. She was an active woman who always kept her mind and body busy. She

consistently proved her resilience through the years. She will be missed by so many

who had the pleasure of standing in her presence over the years. 

To those she loved, valued, and dedicated her life to in Long Beach, Los Angeles,

Santa Monica, Oakland, El Salvador, and across the world – know that regardless of

where you are, she loved you and cherished every bit of time spent together. She

always made the time to show her love and appreciation for those around her.

We are saddened to share the news of her tragic and sudden passing on Saturday, July

16, 2022. She was taken from us too soon, and without warning, at the age of 78. While

on her morning walk, she was attacked and fatally stabbed. Her sudden death

has left the whole community in shock and disbelief. Her bright smile and stubborn ways will be greatly missed within her family and the community she called home. 

We are in the process of organizing funeral arrangements, but so many things continue

to be up in the air. With so few answers, we continue to grieve through this difficult time, but we hope to have everything taken care of as soon as possible. Right now, we ask for your assistance helping with funeral and burial expenses. Thank you in advance for any contributions. Querida familia, amigos y conocidos,

Cualquiera que conoció a nuestra abuela sabían que era una mujer dulce y amable. Era una mujer orgullosa, fuerte e independiente que siempre empujó hacia adelante en la vida. Incluso después del fallecimiento de nuestro abuelo en 2013, prometió quedarse en Long Beach y continuar su vida allí. Pasó alrededor de 30 años en la misma casa, viendo rostros cambiantes alrededor de su edificio.

Fue una madre, abuela, bisabuela, amiga y vecina devota y amorosa. Era una mujer activa que siempre mantenía su mente y su cuerpo ocupada. Demostró constantemente su resiliencia a lo largo de los años. Muchos de los que tuvieron el placer de estar en su presencia la extrañarán a lo largo de los años.

Para aquellos a quienes amó, valoró y dedicó su vida en Long Beach, Los Ángeles, Santa Mónica, Oakland, El Salvador y en todo el mundo: sepa que, independientemente de dónde se encuentre, ella los amó y apreció cada parte del tiempo que pasaron juntos. Siempre se tomaba el tiempo para mostrar su amor y aprecio por quienes la rodeaban.

Nos entristece compartir la noticia de su trágico y repentino fallecimiento el sábado 16 de julio de 2022. Nos la arrebataron demasiado pronto y sin previo aviso, a la edad de 78 años. Mientras realizaba su caminata matutina, fue atacada y apuñalado mortalmente. Su repentina muerte ha dejado a toda la comunidad en estado de shock e incredulidad. Su brillante sonrisa y su terquedad se extrañarán mucho en su familia y en la comunidad a la que llamó hogar.

Estamos en el proceso de organizar los arreglos funerarios, pero muchas cosas continúan en el aire. Con tan pocas respuestas, seguimos afligidos por este momento difícil, pero esperamos que todo se solucione lo antes posible. En este momento, solicitamos su ayuda para ayudar con los gastos de funeral y entierro. Gracias de antemano por cualquier contribución. Paz Veliz Soto, fuiste una mujer magnífica y extrañaremos por siempre la abundancia de amor y alegría que nos trajiste.
