<div>Hey, ich heiße Lena, bin 22 und hatte diesen März während der Semesterferien die Möglichkeit Freiwilligenarbeit in einem Frauenhaus in Tansania zu leisten.

<div>Die NGO (Nicht-Regierungs-Organisation) “<strong>ERIPOTO for Girls &amp; Women</strong>” wurde 2022 in Tansania gegründet, um geschlechterspezifische Gewalt zu beenden und Frauen und Mädchen eine Zukunft durch Bildung und Fürsprache zu ermöglichen.

<div>Das Safe House bietet mehr als 40 Bewohnerinnen, darunter Opfern von Kinderehen, geschlechtsspezifischer Gewalt und Unterdrückung sowie deren Kindern, Unterkunft, ganzheitliche Beratung, Betreuung und Zugang zu Bildung.

<div>Während meiner Zeit in Tansania habe ich das Team auf seiner Mission begleitet, habe mit Aufklärungsarbeit in den Schulen der Maasai-Dörfer leisten können und die Mädchen und ihre Kinder kennengelernt, die derzeit im Frauenhaus leben.

<div>Dabei ist mir aber auch aufgefallen, dass eines der größten finanziellen Probleme der Organisation die <strong>medizinische Versorgung der Mädchen und Kinder</strong> betrifft. Das Team von ERIPOTO bietet den Mädchen einen sicheren Ort, gewährt Stipendien und unterstützt sie beim Schulbesuch, doch die von Partnern und privaten Spendern gesammelten Gelder reichen nicht aus, um die Mädchen und Kinder mit einer grundlegenden Krankenversicherung zu versorgen.

<div>ERIPOTO ist noch ein sehr junger Verein, und ich habe selbst miterleben können, wie er in seinen Bemühungen möglichst viele Mädchen und Frauen in Not zu erreichen, ständig wächst und sich weiterentwickelt. Das Team gemeinsam mit ihren Partnern und Freiwilligen arbeitet beständig daran, ERIPOTO zu einer autonomen und unabhängigen Organisation werden zu lassen, die vielen Mädchen und Kindern eine Zukunft ermöglicht.

<div>Die meisten der Mädchen und Kinder, die zu ERIPOTO kommen, haben jedoch keine Krankenversicherung. Daher müssen alle medizinischen Kosten von ERIPOTO übernommen werden. <strong>Rund 5 EUR reichen aus</strong>, um einen Arztbesuch, eine Blutuntersuchung und eine Packung Kopfschmerztabletten in Arusha, Tansania, zu bezahlen.

<div><strong>Ein Jahr Krankenversicherung</strong>, die alles von Arztbesuchen bis zu Operationen, Behandlungen und Medikamenten abdeckt, kostet etwa <strong>50 EUR für ein Kind und etwa 80 EUR für einen Erwachsenen</strong>.

<div>Was für uns vielleicht nicht viel klingt, kann für die Mädchen und ihre Kinder einen großen Unterschied machen. Es kann sogar Leben retten, wie das der kleinen <strong>Chloe</strong> (Bild 4), dem Kind von Maria, einem sechzehnjährigen Mädchen, das ich während meiner Zeit bei ERIPOTO kennen gelernt habe. Chloe wurde mit einer Gaumenspalte geboren und soll in den kommenden Monaten zum zweiten Mal operiert werden.

<div>Wenn Sie/Ihr also ERIPOTO und die Mädchen und Kinder in ihrer Obhut unterstützen möchtet und etwas Geld übrig habt - wie viel oder wenig auch immer -, wäre ich Ihnen/Euch sehr dankbar.

<div>Da ich ERIPOTO<strong> im September</strong> wieder besuchen werde, wäre es mir eine Ehre, mit den Spenden eine Krankenversicherung für so viele Kinder und Mädchen wie möglich abzuschließen, zumindest für das kommende Jahr.

<div>Hey, my name is Lena, I´m 22 and in March of this year, I was fortunate enough to volunteer at ERIPOTO´s safe house.

<div><strong>ERIPOTO for Girls &amp; Women</strong> is a Tanzanian non-governmental organization founded in 2022 to end gender-based violence and empower women and girls through education, advocacy, and opportunity.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Their Safe House offers shelter, holistic care counseling, mentorship, and access to education for more than 40 residents at a time, including survivors of childhood marriages and gender-based violence and oppression as well as their children. Led by women with lived experience and grounded in local culture, their work aims to foster safety, dignity, and opportunity for future generations.
</div>

<div>During my time in Tanzania, I was able to join the team on their mission, visiting schools in Maasai villages and got to know the girls and their kids, who are currently living at the safe house.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>During my stay I found that one of their most pressing issues right now is <strong>providing health care for the girls and children</strong>. Whilst the team at ERIPOTO is doing their very best to offer the girls a safe space, grant them scholarships and help them attend school, the money collected through partners and private donations doesn´t allow to provide the girls and the kids with basic health insurance.
</div>

<div>As ERIPOTO is a young association continually growing and advancing in their efforts to reach as many young girls and women in need as possible, they are still working on becoming an autonomous and self-sufficient organization, able to provide every girl in need for help with all the necessary essentials.
</div>

<div>Most of the girls and kids coming to ERIPOTO don´t have any kind of health insurance, therefore any medical expenses need to be covered by ERIPOTO. <strong>Round about 5 EUR </strong>can pay for a doctor’s visit, blood work and basic medicaments in Arusha, Tanzania.
</div>
<div><strong>One year of health insurance</strong>, covering everything from doctors’ visits to surgeries, treatments and medicaments, <strong>equals about 50 EUR for a child and about 80 EUR for a grown up</strong>.
</div>

</div>
<div>What might not sound too much to us, can make the world of a difference for the girls and their kids. It might even save lives, such as the live of little Chloe (pic 3), the child of Maria, a sixteen-year-old girl I got to meet during my time at ERIPOTO. Chloe was born with a cleft palate and is due for her second surgery in the coming months.
</div>
<div>So, if you would want to support ERIPOTO and the girls and the kids in their care and you have some money to spare - however much or little it may be - it would be much appreciated.
</div>

<div>As I will be visiting ERIPOTO again <strong>in September</strong>, I would be honoured to use the donations to buy health insurance for as many of the kids and girls as possible for at least the upcoming year.
