<div>This is Joey. Back in August Joey was found in a Catoosa County barn with a broken leg and several other signs indicative of having been hit by a car. With no collar, rabies tag or microchip, Joey sat in a noisy concrete kennel for 6 days - his leg broken and untreated other than the bandage you see here and whatever pain relief the shelter could provide - until I saw the repeat post from Fraternity of the Four Paws pleading for a foster to step up so Joey could be pulled, treated, and given a chance to heal.

<div>I've fostered for several other rescues and shelters. My husband and I have transported adoptable dogs and cats from various Tennessee shelters to fosters and rescues as far away as Manhattan and the farmlands of Pennsylvania. I've worked with dozens of rescuers and other fosters and animal advocates over the past few years.

<div>And yet, none of the people I've worked with have ever broken down the way Kelley Lively of Fraternity of The Four Paws did when I called her and told her I would foster Joey.

<div>Joey was a couple of hours away from being euthanized. He had suffered for almost a week in that kennel and without a vet on staff at Catoosa County, their only means of relieving that suffering was to put him down. And while Kelley and I agree that sometimes euthanasia is the kindest, most loving thing to do, neither of us wanted to see this sweet, smart, otherwise healthy two-year-old dog put down.

<div>Joey lost his leg. He now has a 10" scar on his relatively small body to remind anyone who meets him of what happens when a pet is forced to wait too long for the medical care they need.

<div>What Joey didn't lose was his life. He was treated by a wonderful veterinarian (Dr. Matthew Sachs) and then he recovered in my spare bedroom. He has now moved on to what Kelley and I both hope will be his forever home.

<div>Fraternity of The Four Paws is not a donor-rich rescue. FOFP is funded and operated mainly by one woman: Kelley Lively. And without getting too much into her personal business, I'll simply say that her circumstances of late have left her in need of a used minivan or SUV that she can use for moving dogs to and from vet appointments and to and from the shelters she pulls from.

<div>I'd like to make that happen for her. And for the dozens and dozens of dogs she selflessly cares for. But I need help to do that.
</div>

<div>Let's find her a van. Help me help her help these dogs who, by no fault of their own, find themselves alone and hurt in parking lots and barns and discarded by the side of the road. A dollar, two dollars, it doesn't matter how little you can share. We will make this happen sooner or later.
