Help Us Build a Catio for Our Feline Friends in Need!

Hi everyone! I’m a college student and an independent cat fosterer and rescuer, dedicated to helping the many stray and feral cats in my community. Over the past few years, I’ve taken in and cared for countless cats and kittens, giving them a safe place to stay, providing medical care, and finding them loving homes. But now, I’m reaching a point where I simply can’t bring any more cats into my home. My house is full, but my heart is still open—and I’m committed to doing everything I can to help even more cats in need.

That’s why I’m raising funds to build a catio shed in my yard. A catio is an enclosed outdoor space that provides cats with a safe environment to live and play, while still protecting them from the dangers of the outside world. This shed will be an essential part of expanding my ability to foster, care for, and TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) the many cats that I encounter.

Recently, I came across a family of cats that have truly touched my heart. This group includes several litters of kittens, newborns, and pregnant cats, all of whom travel and stay together—through storms, extreme heat, and all the harsh weather that summer brings. Seeing them stick together and protect one another, despite the challenges they face, has inspired me to do even more for them. I want to give them a temporary roof over their heads, provide them with food and litter, and make sure they’re safe while they get vetted, fostered, adopted, or, if necessary, returned to their outdoor home through TNR.

TNR is a humane method of controlling the stray cat population. By trapping, neutering, and then returning the cats to their original location, we can prevent more litters from being born and help these cats live healthier lives. The catio shed will be a crucial space for these cats to recover after TNR, giving them a safe environment where they can rest and recuperate.

I’ve always managed to do this work on my own, but as shelters and rescues become more packed than ever, I’m realizing that I need to expand my efforts to make a bigger impact.
