Dooonate for 28!

As few of you probably know, I will be turning 28 on October 19th.

Rather than focus on my wrinkly approach to the dirty thirty, I have decided to celebrate by raising funds for a special project that has been transforming an entire African community since 2008.

Because this project is so near and dear to me,
I promise to match every single one of your donations with my personal funds*.

*Donations must be made via this platform so that I can track and match them

Please CLICK "Read More" MANY TIMES to view the entire campaign.

THANK YOU!

KINONDO KWETU PROJECT

In 2008 the 600'000 inhabitants of Kinondo villages, on the Kenyan coast, did not have any access to affordable healthcare.
Or any healthcare for that matter.

"There were children that were deaf due to untreated and repeated ear infections.
Many children were plagued by the jigger parasite and the malaria mortality rate was high.
Babies were delivered in primitive homes with the support of traditional birth attendants with no medical education. The mortality among mothers and babies was high.
People suffering from malaria, HIV, TB and diabetes did not get any proper treatment."

Faced with the urgent needs of the community, the founders of Kinondo Kwetu Trust decided to build a clinic.

As if all of this wasn't enough, the Trust has also set up a primary school and a sponsorship program for high school students.

WHY WE NEED YOU

The Kinondo Kwetu project has made enormous strides in helping an extremely low-income area achieve countless health goals. In 2019, the medical center was officially upgraded to Hospital status with surgical capabilities.

However, running such a wide-reaching operation is very costly, and the current pandemic has only complicated KKT's mission.

Anything you are able to donate will help provide medication, upgrade facilities, pay staff, maintain equipment, promote education, and so much more.

TANGIBLE  PROGRESS

Thanks to Kinondo Kwetu Trust, the staff, and donors, the 600'000 villagers have gone from an absence of medical care to:

• All babies are immunized
• No more home deliveries
• Malaria infections are cured
• HIV, TB and diabetes patients are treated
• Jigger parasite is almost extinguished
• Excellent reputation has attracted neighboring communities

OUR LOVE STORY

I have watched this project save lives since 2009. That summer, I decided to take a break from the French Riviera and flew to Kinondo, Kenya. Back then, the clinic reception consisted of a folding table and two chairs, with yours truly taking down patients' names in a thick notebook.

TAKE A LOOK AT KINONDO KWETU MEDICAL CENTER

I knew that witnessing such drastic improvements of quality of life would be etched in my mind, and what I have of a heart, forever. I never lost sight of the project and was honored when our family foundation, Fondation H&B Agerup, was able to join forces with Kinondo Kwetu in 2018.

Sure, a trip to Sardinia with my beloved Penelope would have been a charming birthday celebration, but I am 1000 times more excited to do things a little differently this year.

Please join me in helping a low-income rural community receive the healthcare they deserve. Anything helps. Really.

PLEASE. AND THANK YOU!!!

And now, for anyone that might have (rightfully) doubted that I have interests besides my dog... Here is a picture of my favorite patient and I in 2009, and another one with Harrison Kaingu, Head of Kinondo Kwetu health services, 10 years later.

P.S. The "favorite" status was more mutual than the photo suggests.
