Don't Complain, Activate "Activator Boxes"

Donation protected
Grace and Peace Everyone. First, I want to thank you all for your continued love and support. Many of you have heard that I decided not to run for re-election after serving as a volunteer on the Minneapolis NAACP executive committee for the past five years, most notably serving as President for the past two and a half years.

Many of you have asked “what is next?” I am excited to announce that I am launching my “Don’t Complain, Activate” (DCA) clothing line and I want to invite you all to contribute. Dr. Betty Shabazz, wife of Malcolm X once said “find the good and praise it.” That is what DCA is all about. Our purpose as a brand is to help people lean into the light that lives within each of us. We use our platform to shine light on activators in our community, realizing that everyone can and should activate themselves and our community.

Between the global pandemic, murder of George Floyd, and the uprising this year has been especially tough for Minnesota residents. Our community has risen to the occasion and I’ve witnessed community members activate like never before. Before I open my merchandise to the general public, I want to gift 220 Minnesota Black activators and 40 allies with some merchandise in an “activator box.”

My goal is to raise $15,000 by November 23rd. Will you collaborate with me on this effort? $55 will sponsor one box but every dollar counts! If you can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Please share this with your network. Thanks in advance. Let’s continue to shine love and light to our community.

I have already selected the individuals that will receive “activator boxes”. This list includes people I love, like, and also people that I constantly have disagreements with. I want to let these people know that I see them and their hard work. I want to thank them for being activators. I also want to show the world that God has given each of us unique talents and there is no one right way to activate. The list includes moms, dads, entrepreneurs, activists, faith leaders, artists, and so much more. The list will be released Monday, November 16th. Every day in December I will be highlighting about 8 activators and their service to the community. I will also be scheduling an interview with the activators to discuss how they are activating the community on my “Don’t Complain, Activate” podcast.

Finally, I want to make it clear that I can’t possibly touch every person who is activating but as a community we can. DCA merchandise will start our pre-sale on Tuesday, November 24 at LeslieRedmond.com
