Don Sprague Memorial Fund

Donation protected
With a heavy heart and great sadness, our beloved Don Sprague parted this world on October 12 at the age of 70 after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 cancer in July 2018 and though he bravely and willingly faced the difficult and painful journey ahead through chemotherapy, rehab and treatment, his disease quickly spread and landed him in hospice care. He was surrounded by family and loved ones on his last days as he passed peacefully.

An amazing father, husband, grandfather,  brother, son, friend, neighbor, Vietnam War veteran, and  man, Don touched countless of lives with his kindness, charm, humor, smile, laughter and love. Many families will forever remember Don especially during the holiday season as “Santa” who selflessly paid a special visit to countless children in hospitals, community centers, childcare facilities and homes to brighten up their days. His vibrant, loving and kind soul truly embodied the real meaning of Christmas. When Don was first diagnosed with terminal cancer the first thing he said was, “what about all the kids at Christmas?” Even with his own life struggles, he was selflessly thinking about kids he’s visited over the 20+ years of being Santa.

So many individuals that Don has made an impact on have reached out with a request for a way to give and help support through this incredibly difficult time. In lieu of flowers, cards and gifts, the family has set up a  Memorial fund to honor Don’s life. The Memorial will help cover the outstanding medical and funeral costs and support his loving wife, Trish, and the home they’ve built together. Married for over 48 years, Don has always cared for everyone in the family, especially Trish as she survived breast cancer and macular degeneration (vision loss). He was her rock as she navigated her new life blind. He encouraged and supported her everyday while she worked to remain independent by attending classes with the Commission for the Blind and Guide Dogs for the Blind.  Don's sudden passing has left everyone devastated, especially Trish as she must learn how to adjust to life without her best friend.

In honor of his wishes, Don’s remains will be cremated. You can read more about his life and find out details of his memorial service in November by clicking here

Please join us in supporting Santa Don’s memorial fund which will be used to ensure Trish is taken care of and help her continue spreading his Christmas cheer! Any additional funds raised will be donated to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Please feel free to share this with others.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support and love. We are so grateful for your kindness and generosity.

Love,

Sprague Family
