Don Earl Pickard Funeral

We are creating this campaign to help my mother with the final funeral expenses for her husband and our father Don Earl Pickard.
Donnie was born in Lafete Rome , GA on February 19, 1947. Don's health had been declining rapidly since 2010. We lost him 3 times but he fought hard enough to earn an additional 7 years with us. He went to be with God the morning of November 24'2017.
He he was a very giving man. After raising 6 kids he and his wife Doris, adopted a 7th child. They didn't have to give up their golden years for diapers and cleats but they did to help what is now a bright young man have a better life. One of the most selfless acts Don has done was to build and operate a go-kart track (RoadRunner Speedway) in Roswell New Mexico. He managed and maintained the track for 5 years. The track was non profit and he never collected a dime for the long hours working on the track and maintaining the equipment, etc, etc. his desire was to give the children in the community an alternative to getting in trouble and a place to learn a new sport and socialize with other kids.
Don was the kind pf guy that would give the shirt off his back to many people in need. If he wasn't working on their automobile, repairing their home or even allowing loved ones and on a few occasions strangers to stay in our home when they needed a place to stay. He wasn't wealthy when it comes to money but when it came to helping someone in need, he was loaded.
All proceeds collected from this campaign will go directly to Doris, Dons wife of 42 years to the day as he passed on their 42nd anniversary. Don had a very small life insurance policy that meets only a portion of the funeral and final expenses. Instead of flowers and such, please consider giving what you can. I know Don has helped so many of his friends and family or children through the last 70 years. A donation to this campaign will truly help remove a huge financial burden from Doris and will allow her to grieve respectfully without this financial burden over her head. UPDATE: I am so impressed by the donations given for Don’s funeral. My mother will be so happy. I have increased the amount slightly to account for some additional expenses that we just learned weren’t included in the package we purchased. Originally Don wanted to be cremated just to save mother the expense of having to deal with a funeral. She however just didn’t have the heart to go that route. So thanks to you wonderful people she is now going to give him the funeral she wanted for him! Thank you again every one!
