Don Durham's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
As many of you know, our fun-loving, sweet, and very charming friend, Don Durham, had a massive stroke the night of Thursday, May 25, 2017. We were all in shock when we heard the news and the world has shifted upside down for his family and friends these last few days.  The family has been overwhelmed with gratitude for the many people that have reached out to them and who have been offering their prayers and well wishes.

Don is a teddy bear of a guy who loves to tell stories and make others laugh. He is a generous and kind person and loves with his whole heart.  Don has a long journey ahead of him but we are hopeful. The stroke was severe and it has left the right side of his body paralyzed.  He has minor movement in his left leg and his speech and cognitive abilities have been effected but we are seeing progress and are encouraged! It is hard to tell the long-term damage right now but we are very hopeful that he can make great strides in recovery.  In order to get there he will definitely need to have physical and speech therapy as soon as possible.

Don is the father of two adored children, Samantha (20) and Carson (16), who have been spending as much time as they can with their daddy as well as finishing up the school year.   A few years ago he found happiness when he met his fiance, Harriette.  They were in the middle of planning their wedding that was to take place in just a few short months on September 23, 2017.  She has been by his side non-stop, working overtime to make sure that he fights as hard as he can through this. We are certain that with her positive drive in life and his strong urge to fight and prove the doctors wrong they will make it down the aisle sooner than later.

Many of you have asked what you can do to help during this time.  Don is the sole operator and owner of Elite Shuttle and is self-employed so he unfortunately is uninsured.  The extensive therapy that will be needed to help Don recover will be a huge expense for him. While it is a difficult thing to ask for help, we know there are times that we must humble ourselves and do so. We asked the family to allow us to create this GoFundMe page to help alleviate the financial burdens on him so that the family can focus solely on his recovery.  If it might be on your heart to contribute financially towards helping,  please know how incredibly thankful we are. Any amount helps no matter how small.  Also, we ask for your continued prayers and that you will stand with us in the belief that recovery is possible.  Your prayers keep Don and the family going!  We hope that you will share this page and thank you for helping us create every possible chance for his recovery.

 Don,

we are looking forward to many more years of your story telling and making us all laugh even when we don't want to.  We are looking forward to seeing you walk down that aisle.  We know that you love all of us all and we can only hope that you can feel how much you are loved in return.  We are standing with you and with your family at this time and sending you strength!
