Dominica Family Hurricane Relief

Our beautiful Nature Island of Dominica has been "devastated" by Hurricane Maria.
The Category 5 Hurricane Maria made landfall Monday September 18, 2017 at 9:15 p.m. ET on our beautiful nature island of Dominica.
A statement from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that its record-topping winds reached 160 miles per hour when it hit the island nation. In an update, the Center reported "significant damage to structures has occurred in Dominica."
The pictures you will see from family and friends in Dominica documents the devastating structural damage to the island. To date 15 confirmed dead and 20 people missing. Those that survived are thankful to be alive but are in need of basic necessities, as the island has no running water, electricity, gas , open stores and limited medical supplies etc.
These funds will be used to support family and friends across the island by purchasing supplies and paying for shipment to Dominica. We expect this to be a long rebuilding process for each and every individual on the island. These funds will be used to respond to the immediate needs for basic survival and to bring a sense of normal living. A sample list of needed items are listed below:

Non-perishable foods (Powdered Milk, Rice, Cereal, etc)
Infant Formula, Diapers, Wipes
Clothing/shoes (If donated, please separate clean clothes by male and female)
Sheets and blankets
Towels
Soap
Toothbrushes and Toothpaste
Toilet paper
Feminine hygiene products
Over-the-counter medications (children and adults)
First aid kits
Insect repellent sprays
Thermometers
Tarpaulin and cords
Roofing supplies
Other building materials inclduing door locks, etc
Appliances
Generators
Water Pumps
Flashlights
Batteries
Extension Cords
Heavy Working gloves
Safety goggles
Battery operated drill and other power tools
Covering for broken windows
Duct Tape
Roofing Nails/Screws
Masks
Donations will be used to support family and friends and all other residents in need in Dominica. Please give whatever you can afford. No contribution is too little.
For non-financial donations, please drop off or send items to Parker-Gray Pediatric Dental Care (224 N Fayette St. Alexandria, VA 22314) Between 9am-5pm (Monday- Thursday) and Friday 9am-12pm.
NOTE: Donations are being still being accepted for shipments in October.
The effort to help in rebuilding will be ongoing, so please continue to visit this site for additional updates on future shipment dates and needs.

My name is Paulette Francois and I was born in La Plaine Dominica. My aunt and uncle (parents of Daina Carlisle) and many other family members and friends live on the island and have been drastically affected by this disater. My family and I in partnership with Parker-Gray Pediatric Dental Care will provide support and assistance .
We ask for these funds on behalf of Daina Carlisle so that she may coordinate the distrubtion of all relief items to our family and friends affected. We understand the commitment and responsbility expected by the US government to utilize all funds for the specifc intent outlined above.
