Dear Friends and Family,
As a recent alumni I have the opportunity to join Global Medical Training Organization at UC Davis in setting up a clinic for a under-resourced community. I will be traveling to the Dominican Republic to help provide free healthcare to rural villages and communities. Global Medical Training is a student led health organization that travels to impoverished communities in order to improve their quality of life.
On this brigade, I will be working closely with health professionals and members of the community to provide basic health care and clean water. These basic necessities that are often taken for granted are scarce in these communities. I am aware that a week long service trip is only scratching the surface on what can be done but it’s an opportunity to help where I can. I hope it will bring aid to those in need.
Additionally, GMT implements a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals building community ownership and with the end goal of sustainability. The funds raised for this medical brigade are being used to provide medicine, equipment, local doctors, local dentists, pharmacists, translators, support staff, and ground transportation.
I need all of your help to make this trip happen and to be able to reach out to these communities! I have a big task ahead of me, and I ask for your assistance to help me accomplish this goal. As a donor, you will be contributing to the sustainability of this program and the communities we are seeking to help.
