Hello! My name is Mrinali and I am a resident of Ghaziabad volunteering to assist domestic workers financially recover after the nationwide economic lockdown.
This is a fundraiser to bring relief to domestic workers in Ghaziabad, who've been unable to make ends meet since the lockdown began. Like most labourers, domestic workers too belong to the gamut of migrant workers, and have been adversely hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Most were not paid by their employers for the period of the lockdown, and/or had no ration cards to rely on. As a result, a majority of them have sorrowfully been rendered debt-ridden. The proceeds accrued via the fundraiser shall go towards helping domestic workers:
- Buy ration and food supplies.
- Pay rent.
- Pay tuition fees for their school-going children.
- Help cover medical expenses for those who are sick/have ailing family members.
- Help cover transportation costs for those who have begun working partially.
