Hey, we have an urgent situation, and we’re asking for help to cover our friend, Jane. We need $500 of it by 2:30 pm.
We’ve known Jane since the start of our group. She’s shared countless photos and stories about wounds and bruises from her husband. She’s tried to leave. Twice.
She has no money or car that isn’t shared with her husband, and her family is 400 miles away. He’s isolated her and made escape impossible. Especially with their two children. She has just learned that he’s been abusing them as well.
Last night, she and the kids tried again. It’s time for all of us to help them escape for good.
She needs a lawyer and an order of protection. We got her an appointment with a lawyer we trust, but we need to raise money now—we’re looking at an IMMEDIATE need of $500 for the consultation and the order of protection.
Edit: We’re now setting the goal at $2700. We have found out the lawyer is only charging her $2400 to take on her case which includes the court cost. He will handle both her divorce AND domestic violence cases. This is a phenomenal cost for who has taken this on. The additional cost is for the Gofundme fee. Any donations beyond the goal will go straight to the victim to help her get on her feet, much needed until she receives compensation for what she's been through.
