Cody De La Paz Medical Expenses
Donation protected
My son Cody had a fall on his skateboard on May 23, 2014. As a result he suffered from a traumatic brain injury. After being airlifted to UMC Hospital in El Paso he had an emergency craniotomy to evacuate the subdural hematoma. After much speech and physical therapy, it seemed Cody was recovering nicely. Unfortunately his wound would not heal and became infected. After four courses of oral antibiotics and not much progress, the neuro surgeon decided to do a second surgery on August 4, 2014. The prognosis was that the bone removed from his skull then replaced in the first surgery had become infected. They ended removing that flap leaving a soft spot and making it necessary to perform a third surgery in six to nine months to insert a plate in his skull. By the grace and mercy of God Cody is recovering well at home. He is currently on an infusion of IV antibiotics three times a day. Although we have insurance it does not cover everything including the infectious disease specialist in El Paso. Also these events have caused me to miss quite a bit of work, as I am a single parent, this has compounded the already strained financial state of my family. We are grateful in advance for any and all donations that are made. May God reveal His grace on you and yours as He has on me and mine.
