Dolpo Teacher Training
Donation protected
The Dolpo Region in the Himalayas of Nepal is one of the most remote parts of the world, only accessible by foot without harldy any electricity or running water. Being a teacher means to work without computers, any other electronic device for the matter and every utensil like pencils and schoolbooks need to be carried up by porters for days. A challenging but rewarding job for many young Dolpo people, who received their higher education in Kathmandu, but now want to gove back to their communities. Often they join their childhood schools as teachers right after college with just a month of teacher training, because going the official governmental route does not guarantee the posting they choose. To better equip them for their formidable task, the Dolpo Tulku Charitable Foundation (DTCF) has partnered with the Rato Bangala Foundation (http://rbf.org.np), who already supports several similar projects in Nepal. During next school break in winter 2018/19 up to 15 Dolpo teachers will hone their skills for one month, especially in early childhood development and how to teach according to the local circumstances. Better teachers means better education, means a brighter future. As a first step Rato Bangala is conducting research on the conditions in Dolpo and will then tailor the training programm. The DTCF will cover all costs including the research, the training and additional costs like public transport to reach Rato Bangala. Help us to give provide the children of Dolpo with a brighter future!
