Dollars for Dominic

Cancer is a diagnosis no parent wants to hear given to their child.   As many of you may or may not know, Dominic Jansen, 2 year old son of Dave and Christina had been diagnosed with brain cancer approximately a year ago.  Dominic suffered a seizure, at age 1, and was rushed to the hospital where a large tumor was discovered.  This was a rare type of brain cancer in a child.  Dominic was scheduled for emergency surgery to remove the tumor and he has undergone rigorous treatments, travel, and testing for the past year.  The Jansen family had finished treatments recently but two weeks ago, Dominic had suffered another seizure and the Jansen’s nightmare has begun again.  MRI results discovered 2 spots on his brain again and Dominic was rushed for another surgery.  He is recovering well from surgery, but the Jansen family has a long road ahead of them.  Now doctors from Boston to Maryland are getting together to figure out a plan to move forward with treatments and recovery.  Dominic will be undergoing possible radiation and chemotherapy treatments and receiving the best of care. It is an incredibly heart-wrenching experience to have to watch your child go through any pain, much less being told they will have to battle the big C and not only once but twice.  

Dave and Christina have touched so many lives with their kindness and friendship.  They are not the type of people to ask for help and they weren’t crazy about the idea to do this, but they don’t know what to do or where this road will lead them.  The stress, pressure and heartbreak they have endured is unimaginable and worrying about finances should not be a burden.  They are the type of people that will always go above and beyond to help you and to put you before their own needs.  Well folks, it's our time to repay that 10 times over.  

I know many people have been asking how they can help. Staying in the hospital for such a long time is not only emotionally exhausting but also financially draining. Dave has and will also be taking time off from work to help care for his son and aid his family.   Any donations towards little Dominic’s care and any expenses they may need help with along the way would be greatly appreciated.  We ask that you please do not try to contact Dave or Christina directly as they would like their privacy and space to face the task at hand.  Everyone please keep the Jansen family in your thoughts and prayers and we thank you for your support in advance.
