Hope is 7 years young and a vivacious and talented little girl with big dreams. Hope became sick during March and we received the devastating news on 28 March 2017 that she has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, commonly known as ALL. Her treatment started that day, Day 1 and for the next 29 days she went through lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirations, blood transfusions and lots of chemotherapy.

At the end of the 30 days Hopie still had leukemia cells present in her blood and she was classified as "High Risk Leukemia". Instead of going into remission, Hope started a more intensive round of treatment with more lumbar punctures, chemotherapy and blood transfusions. On 31 May 2017, Hope had a stroke. The blood clot in her brain was a rare side effect of one of her chemotherapy drugs. Hope was paralysed on her right side and couldn't talk - it was frightening!! Hope has regained the majority of movement in her right arm and she is working hard to regain her strength. Hopie is walking and talking again and was very quiet for a time, although she is working hard to get stronger day by day.

Hope is an amazing little fighter with a spirit like no other and every room lights up when she enters. She has an infectiously cheeky nature and is loved by everyone who meets her. Her strength and resilience continues to amaze all of us.
