Thank you first off for taking time to read this, I am so thankful!
As some of you know I am finishing my intern year of pediatric residency in Miami. I have recently been blessed with the unique opportunity to be part of the Baylor Pediatric Initiative for a month from August 25,2014-September 21,2014, which is coming up very soon! Unfortunately I must provide the funds on my own. I will be living and working in Gaborone, Botswana. This developing nation has the second highest HIV infection rate in the world, with approximately 1 in 6 of its citizens infected. I will be working along side other physicians at the hospital, including those from Baylor University and from the local community, to make sure all the pediatric patients in Botswana get the care they need from ARVs (antiretroviral medications for HIV), identifying and treating TB, malaria, cancers, and sickle cell, as well as making sure they receive adequate nutrition. I have a BIG heart for children and international medicine, with other prior trips in medical school to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Swaziland.
I would absolutely love support for the plane fare and living costs while I am there. Thank you so so much for your compassion and generosity!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to know more about my trip.
Thanks so much!
