Doing it for Dougie

We are raising funds for our precious 3 year old son Dougie, who came along at the last minute for us, against all odds in 2014, and completed our little family. Watching Dougie grow filled our hearts with love, his chattering, his infectious smile, his love for animals, made us feel like our dream had finally come true.
Over the last year, our world has fallen apart, Dougie has been diagnosed with MLD (Metachromatic Leukodystrophy). A rare genetic condition that gives him a life expectancy of around 5 years old.
Watching our sweet boy deteriorate has been the most heart wrenching experience that no parent should ever have to face. Dougie has lost his ability to speak, move and do all things that a toddler should be able to do. Eventually this disease will take away his ability to chew, swallow and breath.
As parents, we now know that all we can do is make Dougie’s time left with us as filled with joy and as comfortable as possible.
